About St Vincent's CollegeUnder the care of the Sisters of Charity, St Vincent's College was opened in May, 1858 and is one of the oldest Catholic day and boarding schools for girls in Australia. The object of the Sisters of Charity was to meet the needs of that portion of the youthful community of our city who required a religious, solid and useful education. Visitors to St Vincent’s College are captivated by the warmth, friendliness, confidence and enthusiasm of our students. This remarkable spirit of community and hospitality pervades every aspect of College Life. It is linked to our tradition of Ignatian spirituality which seeks to find God in each person and in each situation, to our strong orientation to social justice, and to a vibrant sense of prayer and a sense of the sacred in our community. Students at St Vincent’s are encouraged to find God through experience, reflection and action. The College motto, ‘Scientia cum Religione’ reflects this spirituality by calling us to integrate faith and knowledge into our everyday life.
