Our BoardersLiving and Learning Away from Home
Our students come from the Sydney metropolitan area, from rural New South Wales and from overseas. Together they bring to St Vincent's College a rich and diverse variety of life experiences and cultural backgrounds. They are all welcomed into a community of friends. While most of our students are from metropolitan Sydney, many families from rural areas and overseas seek to continue the Catholic education of their daughters in our College’s city environment with its modern, bright and spacious Boarding House. Our facilities offer all the comforts of a happy homely life. Each Year Group is under the care of a dedicated Boarding Co-ordinator whose primary concern is the spiritual, pastoral, physical and academic well-being of each boarder. The caring relationship between boarders and their Co-ordinators is fostered through the variety of activities undertaken such as day trips, sports and games, social activities, formal study times and times together talking through some of the joys and challenges of boarding life. The happy and supportive environment in our Boarding House is based on trust and open communication between the boarder, her family and the Boarding Co-ordinator. The structure of a Boarder’s day is built around her learning in class with other students, time together with other boarders in the evenings and weekends in the dining room, at recreation, in time alone, in study, in the Chapel or during precious moments communicating with family and friends. Weekends involve study, sport and leisure time with family and friends. Boarders gather together for Sunday or Saturday Vigil Mass, and regularly for liturgy and prayer throughout the year.
