IGSA WATERPOLO – TERM 1 and TERM 4 2026 (Years 8-12 Must play Terms 4 and 1 2026)

2026 COMPETITION

In Term 1 and Term 4 we will be entering the IGSA season which is renowned for its high level of competition and professionalism.

Competition Commencement:

All girls must be available to play the first Saturday of Term and every Saturday during the season. This is only fair, as you are part of a team that supports one another.

Important Dates:

The Term 1 competition begins on Saturday, 7th of February 2026

Finals are on Saturday, 28th March 2026.

TERM 4

Term 4 Competition begins on Saturday, 18 October, 2025.

Last Round games are played on Saturday, 29 November, No Finals - its first past the post.

Venue:

Term 1 and Term 4. Our teams play against IGSA schools such as PLC Pymble, Abbotsleigh, and Kambala to name a few. The Saturday morning games are played at various venues, pools and schools throughout Sydney. Depending on the draw, some teams may have to travel to play Frensham at Mittagong. Game times range from 8am till 12.30pm and go for approximately 45minutes.

IGSA - Waterpolo Pool Costs - entrance fees are charged for players and spectators at public pools like Ashfield or Sutherland.

Transport:

Saturday transport is not arranged by the College. Boarders are to organise lifts with day girls.

Arrival time to venue:

Arrive 30 minutes prior to match time for your warm-up. Please sign on.

Wet Weather: Games are always on except for extreme weather ie. lightening

Training sessions:

Trainings are held after school (3:15pm-4:15pm ) or before school (7:15-8:15am). Sessions are run by experienced coaches and include warm-up activities, fitness, drills, tactics and game play. Training times will be listed on the Sports Noticeboard and on here once they are finalised. Training sessions are held in the College pool. In dangerous wet weather, the girls will still train and will combine theory with some practical work outside the pool.

SVC 1 - Monday Mornings (7:15am - 8:15am)

SVC 2 & SVC 7 - Tuesday Mornings (7:15am - 8:15am)

SVC 3 & SVC 4- Wednesday Mornings (7:15am - 8:15am)

SVC 5 & 6 - Friday Mornings (7:15am - 8:15am)

Thursday is Swimming Squad (7:15am - 8:15am)

Absenteeism:

If unable to train, a note must be presented to the Sports Coordinator before the session. If the student is injured or unwell but still attending school then they are required to go to the session and watch and learn. Three unexplained missed training sessions, means you may be bumped from the Team and might not be considered for sport the following Term. To request absenteeism from a match, a note should be submitted to the Head Coach and Sports Coordinator at least 3 days prior to the match, if possible so we can organise a replacement if needed.

Equipment and Uniform:

SVC Waterpolo Swimming Costume, swimming cap, and SVC sports uniform to be worn to and from venue. Non-SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport. Waterpolo Caps are provided by the School.

Uniforms for sport must be purchased from the College uniform shop prior to the first Saturday of Sport. The uniform shop is open on Mondays 8.00am to 2.00pm, Wednesdays from 12:00pm to 5pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2:00pm. To make an appointment phone 8324 6622.

Registering and Team Selection:

For Term 4 2026 and Term 1 Sport 2026, we ask for Registrations in Term 3 2026. Registration is an online process (through clipboard) and plenty of notice is provided by the sports staff and via the College bulletin. These registrations are always open from weeks 2-4 of the term before the competition.

Trials:

Team trials and grading will be held in the last few weeks of Term 3 for a Term 4 and Term 1 sport.

Trials will be held at the the College Pool on - TBC

Year 7 & Juniors: 3:15pm - 4:15pm

Seniors: 4:15pm -5pm

Year 7 2026 - Tuesday 27th January 2:30pm -4pm (College Pool)

Cost for the Term:

The fee for Term 1 2026 is $310 and for Term 4 2026 approximately $310. This includes coaches, registration fees, venue hire, equipment and administration. This amount will be billed to student’s school fees account. Some Public Pools will also require an entry fee for players and spectators.
