IGSA Cross Country Carnival will be held on Friday 27/5/22 at Frensham. The bus will leave Victoria St at 6.15am or all students must be at Frensham at 8.30am for the walk the course as it has changed from past years.
Sport is an integral part of the College and at times, over half the student body number registers and plays a Term Sport, proving its popularity and the great enthusiasm of the girls. Information on each of the specific sports available at St Vincent's College is located below.

Athletics and Cross Country

IGSA Cross Country Carnival
The Carnival is being held on Friday 27 May, 2022 at Frensham School, Mittagong.
There will be a meeting for all girls wishing to compete at the IGSA Cross Country Carnival in Monday 2nd May at 12:45pm (Outside the pool)
Cross Country is held at Frensham School. School bus leaving at 6:30am.
Cross Country Training is held at the College, Rushcutters Bay Park and surrounds. Sessions are run by experienced coach Natasha Stenberg and include warm-up activities, fitness, drills and tactics. The students meet outside the change rooms at 3:15pm and will be back at the college by 4:30pm. If it is wet weather training will be held in the college gym. Once you have registered your interest with Ms Jacobs, the students can come to one or both sessions each week.
Equipment and Uniform:
Cross Country uniform set consists of the SVC shorts, SVC Athletics singlet, SVC sport socks, SVC tracksuit. Non-SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport.
Uniforms for sport must be purchased from the College uniform shop prior to the first Saturday of Sport. For the IGSA Cross Country Carnival, the College will be taking a small bus or you can make your own way to Frensham.
IGSA Athletics
Athletics Squad training commences Term 2 after the College Athletics Inter-House Carnival.
Term 3 includes training sessions, Friday Night Carnival, IGSA Athletics Carnival and then representative Carnival early term 3.
Important Dates:
- The SVC Athletics Carnival has been cancelled on Wednesday 25 May, 2022. We will be running some Athletics Events on the courts to pick Age and House Champions. Please enter on your House Classroom. These will be held in week 6.
SVC will be competing at two IGSA Friday Night Athletics Carnival this year. These will be the one on Friday August 5 and Friday August 12. They will commence at 4.30pm and go to approximately 7.30/8pm. Held at SOPAC, Homebush.
2022 IGSA Carnival .
- The 800m and Hurdles Heats will be held on Thursday 18 August ( 4pm- 7pm) and the main carnival will be held on
- Main Carnival is held on Friday, 19 August 2022 - Commences 8am-4pm. Held at SOPAC, Homebush.
- All IGSA Carnivals are held at Homebush, Sydney Olympic Park venues.
Transport:
For the IGSA Athletics Carnival, a bus is organised to transport the students to and from the carnival. We do however, invite parents to transport students to the carnival and attend.
Training sessions:
Athletics Trainings are held after school (3:00pm-5pm). The Athletics training is held at E.S. Marks Field or Hensley Fields on Wednesdays. Athletics training will replace Cross Country training after the IGSA Carnival at Frensham. Mondays training will still be at Rushcutters Bay and Ms Jacobs will transport girls to E S Marks or Hensley field on the College bus on Wednesdays.
Equipment and Uniform:
The Athletics and Cross Country uniform set consists of the SVC shorts, SVC Athletics singlet, SVC sport socks, SVC tracksuit. Non-SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport.
Uniforms for sport must be purchased from the College uniform shop prior to the first Saturday of Sport. Team Selection:
Ms Jacobs selects the SVC Athletics Squad from the results from the Lunchtime events and training. Final selections for the IGSA Main Carnival will then be made from training sessions and the Friday night competitions.
Cost for the Term:
The fee for Cross Country is approximately $100. The fee for Athletics is approximately $150. Cost includes: Coaching, Carnival entry fees, bus hire, venue hire, equipment and administration. This amount will be billed to the student's school fees account.

In Term 2 and Term 3 our students register for the IGSA season, which is renowned for its high level of competition and professionalism.
Important Dates:
The IGSA Term 2 Basketball ball competition begins on Saturday 30 April 2022
The IGSA Final Round( No Finals - First past the post) is on Saturday 18 June, 2022
The IGSA Term 3 Basketball competition begins on Saturday 23 July 2022
The IGSA Semis are Saturday 10 September and the Finals are on Saturday 17 September, 2022

Girls MUST COMMUNICATE if they are unavailable one Saturday. Notes/Emails written by parents please. Boarders must be at training to ask team mates parents for transport on a rotational basis.
Venues:
In Terms 2 and 3 IGSA Competition, our teams play against schools such as PLC Pymble, Abbotsleigh, and Kambala to name a few. The Saturday morning games are played at various venues and schools throughout Sydney. Depending on the draw, some teams may have to travel to play Frensham at Mittagong. Game times range from 8am till 11am. Venues are attached below.
Term 4 Basketball, all games are played at Santa Sabina College, 90 The Boulevarde, Strathfield.
Transport:
Saturday transport is not arranged by the College. Boarders are to organise lifts with day girls in their teams and all Boarders must plan ahead and be proactive. Talk to your team/coach at training. Since Boarding students need to be driven to venues and back to school each Saturday, it would make sense to rotate this responsibility with all parents. Please try to help the boarders at least once each term with lifts.
Game Times and Arrival time to venue:
The Draw will not be available until the first week back of Term. From past experience, Seniors often play 8am and 9am; Juniors (YR 8/9) play 9am or 10am and Year 7 play at 10am or 11am. Please allow for Sydney traffic and arrive 30 minutes prior to match time for your warm-up. Please sign on at the convenor table and be in full College sports uniform.
Wet Weather:
Term 2/3 and rain cancellations - Your coach will text, however, best to keep checking the IGSA sports website for basketball venues. An indoor venue is always OK, however, if you are an outdoor venue, you need to constantly check the IGSA website if the Saturday brings heavy rain.

Absenteeism:
If unable to train, a note must be presented. Three missed training sessions, means you may be dropped from the Team. To request absenteeism from a match, a note should be submitted to the Head Coach.
Equipment and Uniform:
The basketball uniform set includes SVC navy blue shorts, SVC Basketball numbered singlet. In hot weather, wear the correct soft peak cap. Non SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport. Only as a last resort, tape a number on your PE shirt if you haven't yet purchased a basketball singlet.
Uniforms for sport must be purchased from the College uniform shop. The uniform shop is open on Mondays 8.00am to 2.00pm, Wednesdays from 12:00pm to 5pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2:00pm. To make an appointment phone 8324 6622.

Due to Covid 19 your own drink bottles must be used. All participants and staff are to maintain 1.5m distance when talking. Hands are to be washed or sanitised before and after the match. No hand shaking and no sharing of equipment.

(No Games on June 11 LWE). Round 7 games will be held on Saturday, 18 June 2021. No Finals as it's first past the post.
The Term 3 IGSA competition begins on Saturday 23 July, 2022

Competition Commencement:
All girls must be available to play the first Friday of Term 4 and every other Friday during the season. This is only fair, as you are part of a team that supports one another. On Friday evenings games are held between 4:30pm and 9:30pm games (games run for 30 minutes).

We are not playing the new rule with regards to high balls in Schoolgirls but will be playing the new position for the long corner and the hits in the 25 area, the high ball rule is not being played in Schoolgirls.

Netball

Netball is very popular at SVC. We pride ourselves on working hard at training sessions, displaying respect to coaches and therefore committing to all training sessions, thus forming effective teams and relationships with coaches. In competition mode, we display skill, fighting spirit and sportsmanship.

*If your child plays Netball at RNA or another Association, then join SVC Club as long as the commitment is there and priority to share the 'game time with other club' is there. There may be Saturday game time clashes, however with clear communication and planning, we avert dramas.

Up to 300 SVC students register for Term 2 and 3 IGSA Association season which is renowned for its high level of competition and professionalism. There are many state and rep level players in the Independant Girls School Sports Association (IGSA).

The IGSA Term 2 Netball competition begins on Saturday 30 April 2022

Registration for IGSA Netball is an on-line process. For Term 2, students register start of Term 1 on the SVC website. Do not miss registration.
- If you play in another Comp, please ensure you play four(4) x games for SVC to be fair to teammates and to be able to play in semis and finals. You may play SVC Club & your other club if it works for both teams.

Please note that some teams may have a Frensham game during the season. See Draw attached. Parents, please organise car pooling/transport and make a day of it.
Parking directions for Frensham provided by IGSA: Take Mittagong turnoff, turn left opposite the Melrose Motel, cross railway bridge to Range Rd. Continue along Range Rd past the main school, follow road around to the left (approx. 250m), continue after a small cottage and take the next left into the school property. Follow road past the hockey courts (left) and pool (right) and park in the parking area.

The Robyn Webster Sports Centre at Tempewill host St Vincent’s College in Terms 2 and 3netballgames again. It is a sporting complex located at Tempe Reserve. Parking available on-site. Directions: Enter from Princes Highway into Holbeach Avenue. Drive through the roundabout, then veer right for 200 metres. Look for an ochre/white warehouse.
For IGSA, the Saturday morning games are played at various venues & schools throughout Sydney. See Venue PDF below for addresses and map links. Please plan for travel as games can be at Wahroonga, Pymble, Mosman, Dee Why, Alexandria and Tempe to name a few.
Boarding Students & Transport:
Saturday transport is not arranged by the College. Boarders are to organise lifts with day girls in their teams and all Boarders must plan ahead and be proactive. Talk to your team/coach at training. Since Boarding students need to be driven to venues and back to school each Saturday, it would be good if this responsibility was shared with all parents. Please try to help the boarders at least once each term with lifts.
Game Times and Arrival time to venue:
From past experience, Seniors usually play 8am and 9am; Juniors (YR 8/9) play 9am, 10am and Year 7 play at 10am or 11am. Please allow for Sydney traffic and arrive 30 minutes prior to match time for your warm-up. Please sign on at the convenor table and be in full College sports uniform.
Due to Covid 19, Please bring your own drink bottle and not drink for any other. All participants and staff are to maintain 1.5m distance when talking. Hands are to be washed or sanitised before and after the match. No hand shaking and no sharing of equipment.
Absenteeism:
Three (3) missed training sessions, without an adequate excuse, means you will be removed from the Team. To request absenteeism from a match, a note should be submitted or email elyse.harmanis@gmail.com. It is unacceptable to miss a Saturday game because of party or personal appointment that could have been made after the game.
Equipment and Uniform:
Students who participate in sport should have the college tracksuit or Sports Jersey and wear them on cold mornings in winter. Non SVC hoodies are NOT to be worn to Saturday sport or training. Long black tights are not permitted at training.
Uniforms for netball are the NAVY SLEEVELESS POLO or NAVY PE POLO and the NAVY SKIRT, - to be purchased from the College uniform shop prior to the first Saturday of Sport. All players must have a netball skirt. The uniform shop is open on Mondays 8.00am to 2.00pm, Wednesdays from 12:00pm to 5pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2:00pm. To make an appointment phone 8324 6622.
Cost for the Term:
The fee for IGSA Netball is approx. $295 for Term 2 and $295 for Term 3 and includes coaches, registration fees, venue hire, game equipment, training equipment and administration. This amount will be billed to student’s school fees account.
IGSA Reminders 2022
- Please remind all players to sign on (for themselves only), neatly and correctly before the start of the game.
- Please supply a scorer for each game and ensure either each scorer sits with the other team’s scorer or that they check scores regularly throughout the game. Captains must sign the score sheet at the end of the game.
- Please make sure players maintain short fingernails throughout the season, are not wearing jewellery/earrings. Suitable footwear compulsory
- Any players that play for another team other than the one they are registered in must be in accordance with the Playing up rules.

TERM 1
A College Representative squad is chosen after the College Swimming Inter-House Carnival in Term 4. The girls should be doing their own squad training. Year 7 students and any other new students will be timed in PE lessons and should email Ms Jacobs if they are interested in being selected for the IGSA Team.
The swimming team chosen form our College Carnival usually competes in the prestigious IGSA Carnival at Olympic Park, Homebush. Only one swimmer is allowed to be entered per school as there are 3 divisions of 9 = 27 schools. We are in Division 2 again this year. The relays are Junior (12, 13 and 14 years) Intermediate(15 and 16 years) and 18+years). Each swimmer is allowed a maximum of 4 events, one of which must be a relay.
Important Dates:
SVC 2022 Swimming Carnival/Trials were held at the College pool in November, 2021 due to Covid.
The SVC 2023 Swimming Carnival is Wednesday 23 November, 2022 TBC
2022 IGSA Carnival is Friday 25 March, 2022. Approximately 8:00am-4:00pm. Our team will be chosen from 2021 Term 4 Carnival and trials in PE classes.

Transport:

SVC swimming costume, SVC swimming cap, SVC sports uniform is to be worn. Non-SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport.

Swimming Squad Sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 7.15am - 8.15am for Term 1 2022.
Any students wishing to improve their swimming for waterpolo or to train for the IGSA carnival are welcome to come to either of these sessions.

In Term 4 and 1, our students register for the IGSA season which is renowned for its high level of competition and professionalism. The College will also enter a Tildesley Tennis Team to compete in the Term 1 Tournament, and in Term 4, the team commences training for the following year.
Competition Commencement:
All girls must be available to play the first Saturday of Term and every Saturday during the season. This is only fair, as you are part of a team that supports one another. IGSA Competition commences on Saturday, 12 February 2022.
Important Dates:
Tildesley Tennis Tournament - Singles -Sunday March 13 and Doubles - Monday March 14, 2022 ( Tuesday March 15 is Backup Day)
Venue: Pennant Hills Park
Our teams play against schools such as PLC Pymble, Abbotsleigh, and Kambala to name a few. The Saturday morning games are played at various venues, fields and schools throughout Sydney. Depending on the draw, some teams may have to travel to play Frensham at Mittagong. Game times range from 8am till 12:30pm.
Transport:
Saturday transport is not arranged by the College. Boarders are to organise lifts with day girls if possible or a small College bus may g.
Arrival time to venue:
Arrive 30 minutes prior to match time for your warm-up. Please sign on. Matches commence at 7:45am and 9:55am at each of the IGSA venues and matches go for approximately 2 hours.

Venues:
The Eastern Suburbs Touch Association competition matches are held at Centennial Park, Mission Fields on Oxford St from 8am in the morning until 1pm in the afternoon. This year we will also be using Lyne Park, Rose Bay.
The Reservoir Fields (named CP 01 for example), are off Oxford Street, Woollahra/Paddington. Park Oxford St or enter Centennial Park at Paddington Gates and turn left into Carrington Road. Mission Fields (MF) are hidden. Three options: 1. off Parkes Drive, turn west at main duck pond coffee caravan. Walk 300m west through soccer fields. 2. Enter Randwick gates (opp. racecourse), drive left 300m, park, walk across field to a clearing into Mission. 3. Park along Grand Drive, near Sydney Boys High field, walk behind their building for 150m.

Training times are listed on the Sports Noticeboard and in Admin notices. Training sessions are held at Rushcutters Bay Park. Parents may pick up from 4:30pm at the Park or at 4:45pm at the College. On wet weather an indoor session may be organised at school in A13 or another room. The students will meet their coaches on the paved area at 3.05pm and walk down to Rushcutters Bay park.

In Term 4 and 1, we enter into the Santa Sabina College Tournament. All games are played at Santa Sabina College, 90 The Boulevarde, Strathfield. Our girls enjoy the sunshine, the music and the fun of learning new skills of this exciting sport. Every game is played on grass courts at Santa Sabina College Strathfield on Saturday mornings.

Days and Times for Term 4 are held after school 3:15pm-4:15pm or before school 7:15am-8:15am on the College Courts. Training sessions are run by experienced coaches and include warm-up activities, fitness, drills, tactics and game play. Training sessions are held on the school courts. All to attend. On wet weather an indoor session may be organised in Room 2.32 or another room.
If raining then a fitness session will be held in Room A13 or the Hall. All to attend.
Absenteeism:
If unable to train, a note must be presented to the Sports Coordinator. Three missed training sessions means you may be asked to reconsider playing. To request absenteeism from a match, a note should be submitted to the Head Coach at least 1 week prior to the match.

This uniform is the College polo shirt and navy blue shorts with no pockets. Wear the correct Hat/Soft peak cap as you play in the sun on grass courts. Wear white socks. Non-SVC clothing is not to be worn to sport.

Uniforms for sport must be purchased from the College uniform shop prior to the first Saturday of Sport. The uniform shop is open on Mondays 8.00am to 2.00pm, Wednesdays from 12:00pm to 5pm, and Fridays from 8am to 2:00pm. To make an appointment phone 8324 6622.
Registering and Team Selection:
For Term 4 2022 and Term 1 Sport 2023, we ask for Registrations in Term 3 2022. Registration is an online process and plenty of notice is provided by the sports staff. These registrations are always open from weeks 2-4 of the term before the competition.
Trials:
Team trials and grading will be held midway through Term 3 for a Term 4 and Term 1 sport. Or in the case this year teams will be finalised in the first 2 weeks back at school.
Cost for the Term:
The fee for Term 1 2022 is $295 and for Term 4 2022 approximately $295. This includes coaches, registration fees, venue hire, equipment and administration. This amount will be billed to student’s school fees account. Some Public Pools will also require an entry fee for players and spectators.
