About the Role
The Head of Department – Health and Movement Science provides strategic and instructional leadership within the faculty, fostering high-quality teaching and learning while championing student wellbeing, engagement and equity.
Working collaboratively with staff and College leadership, the successful applicant will lead Curriculum and assessment design, support professional growth within the team, and contribute to the ongoing development of innovative, evidence-based practice.
About You
You are a skilled educational leader who brings:
- Strong instructional leadership and a deep understanding of Curriculum, assessment and contemporary pedagogical practice in Health and Physical Education
- Experience in strategic Curriculum and assessment design, informed by qualitative and quantitative data
- The ability to build and lead a collaborative, high-functioning team culture, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- A clear commitment to student wellbeing, engagement and inclusive practice
- Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to engage professionally with staff, students, parents and College leadership
- Experience teaching across a range of stages and courses, with Stage 6 experience in Health and Movement Science and/or Community and Family Studies highly regarded
- A passion for pedagogical innovation and a commitment to ongoing professional learning
Key Position Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Qualifications for, and/or experience as, a Head of Department
- Appropriate teaching qualifications and eligibility to teach in NSW
- Capacity and willingness to teach Stage 6 courses offered by the faculty
- A genuine passion for learning and the ability to foster a culture of growth and achievement
- A commitment to Catholic education and an understanding of the Mission and Vision of the College
- An informed understanding of the connection between emotional and educational growth
- A current Working with Children Check and a strong commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of young people
