St Vincent’s College is seeking to appoint a committed, professional and enthusiastic full-time School Nurse.

The Role

The position is for a Registered Nurse, preferably with experience in school-based nursing, and is term-time only. The College Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of students and staff through the delivery of safe, professional, and compassionate care. Key responsibilities include responding promptly to medical emergencies and administering first aid. They provide quality care to students with chronic or mental health conditions and ensure health records are accurate and confidential.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The College Nurse is responsible for the safe storage, administration, and documentation of daily and PRN medications, including the handling of controlled drugs. Regular tasks also involve liaising with chemists and medical suppliers to maintain a well-stocked Health Centre and Boarding House.

The College Nurse works in conjunction with the school’s executive team, wellbeing staff, families and other health professionals.

Within boarding, the College Nurse works closely with the Dean of Boarding and staff to support boarding students when they become unwell or injured, in booking medical appointments and providing consistent communication with families.

Upholding high standards of hygiene, equipment maintenance, and professional conduct is essential to ensuring a safe Health Centre environment and school.

Your Background

  • Medical and community-based nursing experience
  • Confident and experienced
  • Mental Health experience
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Well-developed communication and decision-making skills
  • Database experience
  • Mandatory - Working with Children Check Number
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You will be liaising daily with parents as a representative of the school, so this is essential.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented with a great attitude.
