The College is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Diverse Learning specialist with strong interpersonal and organisational skills to join our Diverse Learning Department. The role of the Diverse Learning Teacher works across Years 7-12 to support the teaching and learning of students who have been identified as having specific learning needs. They will work closely with academic staff to develop targeted literacy and numeracy support for students and work with identified students on both Enrichment programs and in Life Skills programmes.

Key position criteria

  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications and accreditation to teach in NSW
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher in designing learning activities and supporting individuals or small groups of students during class time
  • Work 1:1 with identified students to unpack and scaffold learning tasks.
  • Support the development of targeted literacy and numeracy skills specific to the student.
  • Manage Independent Plans and Learner Profiles, including conducting routine assessment and updating documentation in consultation with the Head of Diverse Learning
  • Assist students with study skills and organisational needs.
  • Foster the use and implementation of new technologies to support the learning of students with diverse needs.
  • High level of administrative skills to manage student documentation, analyse student data and contribute to the collation of documents in line with NCCD, NESA, etc, as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate with staff, parents and students in the design and delivery of programmes that support student engagement in learning
